Our client was looking for a new package design for their line of aromatherapy scented candles. They were also in the market for a new logo. We were given carte blanche with how we would approach the project.

As we do with many of our projects, we think about the client’s business, their product, and the clientele with whom they are seeking to have a rapport. We take all those aspects in mind when trying to determine the role the packaging (and logo) play in the relationship.

Aromatherapy candles are usually to soothe the user. Infinity is the conceptual aspect of the totally endless. Nothing needs to come between those two elements; the soothing, and the infinite… white is perfect.

Next, we examined the relationship of the client and their customer, the usage of the candles and their unifying nature. To this end, we envisioned the infinity symbol with an extra twist; instead of one, unending double-loop, we thought of the client and their customer as two loops that, when entwined, would complete the circuit, would become one; a “Golden Rule” of all relationships, and thus a gold symbol – inside an endless circle.

Then, we chose colors that matched the desired effect of the candle’s name; zen relaxation is purple, passion’s fire is red, etc…

Result: The client saw our design pitch as inspired, and proceeded into production. We were later sent a congratulatory shipment of candles, as their sales figures had shown a marked increase that coincided with the release of the new design.
