Client: Microbrewery Beer Labels

Scope: Label Designs

Having heard of our excellent service from our Penn Pete’s client, Tek was contacted by a microbrewery with a similar request, but even more intensive: design several different beer labels for new micro-brew releases – each with a different flair, as there were to be several “brands”, and all needed quickly.

We were given the direction of only the names of the micro-brands, and the general idea for what the client wanted: Both, Bleecker Street & Haight-Ashbury should have a 60’s flair, but also something iconic. Skyline Drafthouse should be modern, sleek and iconic as well.

With this information, we immediately knew that the Bleecker Street and Haight-Ashbury brands should be similar, as they reflected the same counter-culture movement, but just from different coasts, however what would differentiate them would also be their iconic call-out: the landmarks that identify each location. The Haight-Ashbury crossroads sign is the singular visual landmark for that area of San Francisco, and nothing identifies New York City’s famed Greenwich Village area than Bleecker Street and the Arch at nearby Washington Square Park.

Skyline Drafhouse’s name said it all – the NYC skyline. However, how to capture the entirety of the skyline on a single label? Simply superimpose areas of skyline over each other in a red, white, and blue color palette. We also designed a logo that emulated the skyline as well. We then used the shape of a NYC police/fireman’s badge as the label’s shape and knew we had a hit.

Result: Peace, Love and good times! The client was ecstatic with our speed, our designs, and the labels capacity of color-customization for identifying further releases.
